What a fantastic week we have had. It was a fun filled magical time with lots of creative activity. The main focus of the week was the ‘Jungle’. It started with a drawing session based on all sorts of animals: giraffes, elephants, monkeys, parrots, etc. these drawings were used as inspiration for the large mural which will form a focal point for children during the Mallow Arts festival. It will be on display during the Mallow Arts Festival. During the Festival children will be able to have their faces painted with lions, tigers, leopards, monkeys, parrots etc. So, be careful, a wild animal in Mallow may very well scare you!
During the week the students did mask making based on tigers, parrots and giraffes. They tie-died colorful t -shitrs to match the masks. Mobiles of birds and pictures of the animals were created using collage, paint and pastels by the younger students.
The senior students did pattern making and used this as inspiration for their batik. These were used in the covers for the notebooks they made. These students created imaginative composition of their animals using oil pastels, chalks and some even beautifully rendered drawings. What a great talented group of students they are. Congratulations to all. Please look out for the large colorful mural when you are visiting Mallow town during the Arts Festival.
May I take this opportunity to congratulate the very hard working committee on the fantastic program of events that they have compiled for the festival.
