Ali Comerford

The Mallow Arts Festival is delighted to welcome Ali Comerford, an acclaimed Kilkenny-born songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, for a special performance at St. James’ Church.

A classically trained violinist from the age of four, Ali’s remarkable musical journey has taken her from Ireland to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall in New York, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and Dublin’s National Concert Hall. Her studies at the Royal College of Music in London and the Manhattan School of Music in New York laid the foundation for an international career that has seen her tour extensively across Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

Along the way, Ali has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including acclaimed guitarist Cory Wong, contributing string arrangements and performances to his 2019 album Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul.

After years performing with orchestras and ensembles around the world, Ali returned home to County Kilkenny in 2020 and turned her focus to her own songwriting. The result was her debut album, Knots, released to widespread critical acclaim. Her music has been featured by RTร‰’s Behind the Music, Hot Press Magazine, and The Irish Times, with Hot Press naming her as one of its artists to watch.

Combining classical influences with contemporary folk, indie and singer-songwriter traditions, Ali’s music is deeply personal, beautifully crafted and emotionally resonant.
