We are delighted to welcome the Kantos Quartet to Mallow for a very special Culture Night concert at St. Jamesโ Church.
Featuring four outstanding musicians โ Sarah Sew, violin; Hugh Murray, violin; Alexandros Koustas, viola; and Aoife Burke, cello โ the quartet will present Centenaries, a fascinating programme connecting music from the 1800s, 1900s and the present day.
The programme includes:
๐ผ Beethoven โ String Quartet in Bโญ, Op. 18 No. 6
๐ผ Caroline Shaw โ Blueprint
๐ผ Swan Hennessy โ String Quartet No. 2
๐ผ Janรกฤek โ String Quartet No. 1, Kreutzer Sonata
The concert explores connections between Beethoven’s music and Caroline Shaw’s modern interpretation, while also featuring Swan Hennessy’s beautiful quartet written in memory of Terence MacSwiney, and Janรกฤek’s powerful and intensely dramatic Kreutzer Sonata.
This is the debut tour of the Kantos Quartet, bringing together four of Ireland’s finest and most experienced musicians.
