Songs and Souls — Closing Night at Mallow Arts Festival 2026

The Mallow Arts Festival closes in style on Sunday 26th July with Songs and Souls at St James’ Church of Ireland, from 8pm to 10pm.

This unique show brings together acclaimed playwright Deirdre Kinahan and legendary fiddler Steve Wickham — best known for his work with The Waterboys, and who has also performed alongside U2, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. Together they deliver a moving, riotous celebration of character, music and storytelling, blending theatre, live music and memory to create something truly special.

This was one of the standout hits of last year’s Cork Midsummer Festival, and we are delighted to bring it to Mallow.

Ireland’s original psychedelic folk group Dr. Strangely Strange will take the stage at St James’ Church of Ireland on Saturday 25th July, from 8pm to 10pm.

This is a truly rare opportunity — the veteran experimental folk group have recently returned to live performance after a remarkable 45-year break. With a legendary back catalogue and a gap of 28 years between their third and fourth albums, expect an evening of music both new and old, and no shortage of legendary tales from one of Ireland’s most unique musical acts.

Loudest Whisper

Loudest Whisper Live at Mallow Arts Festival 2026

We are thrilled to announce that legendary Fermoy folk-rock group Loudest Whisper will perform at St James’ Church of Ireland on Thursday 23rd July, from 8pm to 10pm, as part of this year’s Mallow Arts Festival.

Brian O’Reilly returns to front the group for a special evening in two halves — an acoustic set featuring material from their iconic 1974 debut album The Children of Lir, followed by a full-on electric rock and blues session. Their debut album was famously ranked among the top 100 most collectible albums on the planet.

This is a rare chance to see one of Ireland’s most celebrated folk-rock acts live in an intimate setting.

Bealtaine Variety Concert

The Bealtaine Variety Concert returns to the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow on Sunday 17th May from 2:30pm to 5pm.

Organised by NCDA Music Facilitators Mecca Barrett and Ber Browne, this promises to be a wonderful afternoon of live music and entertainment. The lineup features The Songbirds (Singing for the Brain Choir), Johnny Bongos, Maureen Flynn, Frances Kennedy, Kathleen Mannix, John Nyhan, Sheila Fitzgerald and many more.

Tickets are €10 at the door, with all proceeds going to the North Cork Dementia Alliance — a fantastic cause well worth supporting.
